Sometimes people call for a reading when they are facing a challenge in their life. Those challenges always show up in their cards. The challenges however, always have a purpose, and the rub is that we don't always see it that way. In times of challenge we usually have only one question, "When will it be over?".

When I'm asked that question, and I do hear it a lot, I stop and think for a moment before I answer. Franz Kafka said, "The meaning of life is that it stops." As usual for him and other men born on July 3 - to the point with absolute insight.

This morning when I was cooking my oatmeal, I stood patiently at the stove and watched the brilliant alchemical process that was going on before my eyes. I watched from start to finish. I don't usually do that. Most of the time I multi-task as my oats are going through their transformation into oatmeal. This morning was different. Partly because I'm traveling and staying at a friend's house in Los Angeles, and I'm not in my "usual" ritualistic breakfast routine.

As I stood there staring into the pot, I watch in awe as the magic of the elements transformed each other to re-purpose the raw oats I had put into a pot of water and placed on the fire.
The fire heating the water, the water coming to a boil, the oats swirling around from the energy being created by the heat, and the transformation of the oats resulting from the combination of all of this together. From oats to oatmeal. Wallah!

As I observed this alchemical ritual that I had put into motion, I thought about time. I wondered how much of my life goes on while I'm "multi-taksing", busily getting things done. My mind quickly referred to the cards, as it most always does, and I thought about the 52-day cycle that I am in right now and the cards that are governing that cycle. Then I thought about my year, which just began on my birthday in April, and I thought about the cards that are prominently placed as profound influences for my year. Then I heard myself think, "I want to take advantage of each moment that I have. I don't want to miss a thing."

Hearing the spoken conviction in my head of course lead me back to hearing all the voices I have heard saying, "When will this be over?" My first response, at least in my head, when I hear that question is, "When we die." What I actually do is look at the purpose of those influences so that an enlightening moment can present itself for the sake of understanding, which shifts the relationship and the experience for the person I'm talking with via new insight and direction.

When we live from a place of trying to get to where (we think) we're going, we miss where we are. The majority of people driving in LA will confirm this if you observe them. Most are barely present with where they are. Their heads lunged forward, their energy pushing the car in front of them, daring pedestrians to cross the street and remain alive or physically intact, and already at the meeting, or wherever it is that they're going, preparing what they will do. This is not living.

As I see it, when we were born, we were given a Life Account - like a bank account. It's contents: TIME. Imagine a bank account full of time; time replacing money. The difference with the Life Account is that we cannot put more time in like we do money in our bank. So, when we spend our time, it's gone. Where did it go? Do we know? That's what I was thinking about when I was watching the oats become my oatmeal this morning.

How we use the time we are given determines the return we get, like an interest rate, which translates as quality in living. A moment does not return. Though time is not linear, it behaves as such. Our perception is not our own if we are not present with it in the moment. When we are not present with our perception in the moment, we belong to the past or the future; a past that we cannot change, and a future that is being fabricated by our imaginations. What if... we didn't do that? To be continued...

The Wisdom of Time

My study and work with the mystic science of the cards has revealed much to me about time over the past twenty years. This ancient book of wisdom, which we know as a deck of playing cards, in it's relationship with the yearly calendar makes clear the intention of time; day-by-day.

Time is the fourth dimension, and yet like the dimensions that come before it, it has no physically tangible structure, even though it feels as it does and acts as if it does. The science of the cards makes known the matrix of time, which gives time a visible window to look through so that we can see the components and influences that appear as time unfolds.

The unfolding of each moment, each hour, and each day is in direct relationship with the unfolding of our individual life paths, thus our relationship with time. Since we are in relationship with everything in the seen and unseen worlds that surround us, to gain understanding of this system can enlighten us in our personal journey; day-by-day. This is why I write about the card of the day. And, it's why I explain in my book, Cards of Destiny, how to calculate your personal relationship card for each day, so that you can have a more person insight into what is possible for you in that daily relationship with time.

Image: www.allclocksonline.com/
faceheart...lock.html

The Magnificence of a Moment

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; Last Sunday I was driving to get my friend Julie to go hiking. I'd just arrived in Los Angeles the day before after being in three weeks of below freezing weather in North Carolina. I was so happy to be in the southern California weather, thawing out.

So, I'm driving up La Brea avenue toward the fabulous, sunny, clean and sparkly hollywood hills. It had just rained here like crazy for a week--and the sunlight was dancing all over everything. I'm sitting at a stop light, in a sort of blissful daze, when someone behind me honks his horn. The light had turned green, and I had failed to see that. In LA, there is no time lag at the light, you should have one foot on the gas pedal and the other foot on the brake at the same time so that the instant that light changes, you shoot off that limit line like a thoroughbred charging out of the gate at Hollywood Park.

At the next intersection and another red light, the guy who was behind me and honked, pulled up next to me and started going off on me; "What are you doing? Are you texting, talking on the phone? What are you doing? You're supposed to be driving!"

Whoa, dude. I was just noticing how beautiful it is today and enjoying the sun, and I didn't see the light change. I think he was expecting a duel or something. His face totally changed. He looked awestruck. I suppose I could have gone off on him right back and then we would have both been in misery, at least for some minutes. But, I didn't do that, I chose to diffuse the energy and turn it toward what I was feeling, which was gratitude for where I was in the moment.

He looked at me, face totally relaxed, and said, "Oh. During those minutes or hours, it's without direction or influence.

During these times it can seem as if nothing (void) is happening. And often times when the moon is void we don't do much, or we have a hard time following through, or things take forever; traffic doesn't move, we get stuck in lines, or wait for unusually long periods of time, etc. It can be frustrating.

These are not the best times to make plans, decisions, or to put things into motion, because they are likely not to come to fruition.

I will be posting the Void of Course Moon times on The Card of the Day emails from now on. Here are some tips to follow when you have the option to do so:

Avoid starting things if you can.

Avoid doing important things: Interviews, buying a house or car, getting married, starting a relationship, major meetings, signing contracts, if possible.

Plan nothing, Decide nothing, Commit to nothing. Purchase nothing, if you can.

Avoid consultations with others who also have cloudy judgment: ministers, lawyers, rabbis, doctors, counselors, teachers, anyone whose advice you need, when possible.

Rejuvenate your spirit, relax, take a break, time out, meditate, read, "veg" out on the couch, clean house, take a walk, go fishing, have lunch with a friend without expectations, do things that give you a "pause" in a hectic life. Follow your natural rhythm.

Something need repair? You might want to wait until the void of course time ends, because it might have to be done over.

Avoid communications that are extremely important. Wait to write the letter, email, send the fax, or make a call. The communication will either be disrupted, delayed, or contorted.

This is time to take a break. Stick to things you do routinely. A time of reflection and review.

2010 - What I See in the Cards

After a year of sacrifice and loss (2009), which was major for many, we have not only entered a new year, but a new decade, and the numbers look good. 2010 is a "year of new self-expression, connectedness and communication, and brand new beginnings. We have moved from single to double digits, which I feel are taking us from our inner world and the growth that has occurred to our outer world and our expression there.

This new year brings empowering energy for us as individuals, which is what we have the opportunity to cultivate in ourselves and support in one another. This is a time for us to touch our passion and let that which we love the most feed the fire of expression. To encourage the same in others will bring great rewards for all.

This year is about creating and expressing beauty in our relationships, in the work that we do, and in our selves; inside and out. The mind will be more stimulated and excited to learn new things, take on new perspectives, and share what is learned with others.

We will all become more intuitive and learn to trust ourselves more, relying on what we feel and integrating our intuition with our thoughts and actions. The drive to accomplish will be strong and efforts will be rewarded; spiritually and materially.

Change and exploration will be at the forefront of our minds on a fairly consistent basis, and most especially in the spring; adventure will call and we will respond. New ways of thinking will be birthed and changes will result.

We are all learning about how to be more creative with our finances this year. We must think outside of the box and say "yes" to the ideas that come to bless us. The more unique the better, across the board. Being in right relationships personally and professional will move things along more quickly. Innovative thoughts and actions will take things to new heights.

Spirituality will be more important for all of us, and our old ways of judgment and discrimination will be put to the test. The opportunity is to forgive, accept, and care about one another. The doorway to transformation and the greatest goodness is going to come through the union of our spiritual and material values as one; no more separation between the two. Everything is energy, and energy follows intention. Simple

The rewards: shifts in consciousness, new ways of living, and a cohesive connection between all.
The initiation: into the consciousness of the heart - Christ consciousness.
What will nurture us: to let go of all old ways of thinking and believing that no longer serve us and open our minds to the global mind of humanity as a whole and greater self-awareness.
The result: we will recreate our lives and reinvent ourselves.

On the bigger scale of things, because of the astrological influences that are coming, it could get a little wild on the planet. With Uranus going into Aries in May, the god of war may be quite active. Anything having to do with fire, volcanoes, and war could stir the global pot. It's important to understand Uranus is the planet of change, making the way for a new future. Aries is the first sign in the zodiac, and we are in the first year of a decade--new beginnings are a given. On the personal level things can shift quickly, and without warning. Uranus brings the future to us--we get to be open to see what that means.

On the interpersonal level the cards suggest that it's all about communication and expression. This is a year to create a new relationship with our self; take it to the next level of expression and step out beyond the line where perhaps we have held ourselves back. It's an "all or nothing" year.

Things that are initiated this year will take us far and expand our lives. The secret is to go for it, whatever our dream is, just do it from our passion. The cards for the year are all about passion and feeling, and expression, and compassion--which will most definitely be a key element on the global scale of things.

May all being be free, may all beings be happy, may all beings be liberated. Neptune is the planet that governs our dreams and fantasies, our imagination and more. However, it seems to me that when we are in that 52-day cycle just before our birthdays, almost always, there is some sort of nightmare that happens.

A nightmare is a type of dream, correct? Yes, and if we have been deceptive, which is also ruled by this mysterious god, it will come to bear fruit during this time of the year for any of us.

Tiger Woods birthday is December 30 - the Ace of Hearts / 3 of Spades birthday. The only one in the year. And, right now, as the media slam dunks him into a dark little hole, he is in his Neptune cycle, just shy of his thirty-fourth birthday.

Let me tell you something about this particular birthday. The Ace of Hearts is literally driven by the desire to be loved. That desire is insatiable-and it's the nature of this card to have love affairs. This does not mean that everyone does, but it is a natural force of the card.

The 3 of Spades can bring forth a dark side, one that can be very secretive. There is often a part of the 3 of Spades life that many know nothing about. I'm not saying this is true for all of them, but often it is. This card can be very deceptive. Put the two cards together and we have a force that can easily have affairs, be dishonest, lie, and believe that it's all okay. Meaning: what we see is maybe not what we're really getting.

The true home of the 3 of Spades is governed by Neptune and Uranus, which means that unpredictable behavior that is deceptive can easily be accomplished, at least for some period of time. Deception becomes the ruler and deceives even its host. Not a great character to invite in.

Tiger's outcome card for age 33 is the 9 of Hearts - and his Neptune card is the 9 of Diamonds. His 3 of Spades has been sitting in the 9 of Diamonds position since his last birthday. So these two nines have been moving in on him since last December, and now they strike!

That 9 of Diamonds / 9 of Hearts combination could cost him some endorsements, as those cards signify endings with both relationships and finances - not to mention his family. Disappointment will be a keyword and theme throughout this situation.

Age 33 in the cards is governed by Uranus, so again, unpredictable situations can come out of nowhere and they will most definitely shape the future. How, is always the question.

Long Range, Tiger's ruling card this past year has been the 5 of Spades. This card brings life changes and changes in career.

And the future...He's going into a double Neptune year on his birthday, and he has the 9 of Hearts (loss of love and relationships) with the 4 of Hearts (family) as long range cards. He also has the Jack of Hearts, which is a card of sacrifice.

The other significant cards ruling Tiger right now are all diamonds - they teach us about integrity. Deception, as we all know is never a good choice. Eventually, it reveals itself. Perhaps this is because its nature is to deceive--even the one it employs to deceive others.

Thanksgiving - In the Cards

I am driven by my curiosity, which is probably what keeps me thinking that I'm 19 years old.

I had to look at the word "Thanksgiving" in the cards to see what card and life path is governing this holiday we celebrate in the USA. A holiday that reminds us to be grateful.

So, the word "Thanksgiving" in the cards is the Six of Clubs, who is The Messenger.

I love doing this because every time I do, which is pretty much daily with one thing or another, the life path of the cards totally align with the word, name, or location, etc. that I am exploring. This holiday is very special.

The Six of Clubs carries the message of responsibility. Responsibility to our dreams, our imagination, our expression, and most importantly--our intuitive intelligence. More important even than these is the responsibility of kindness to others. This is a card of grace, and grace gives way to goodness--goodness is an alchemist that transforms our awareness through understanding.

The Six of Clubs is filled with natural grace and wisdom--it innately understands that the hand of fate is leading us through time; it understands karma. The Six of Clubs knows that love is the key; the answer to all happiness, and that giving from the heart is the true path of wealth and good fortune--fortune that is accumulated in the tapestry of our being--our soul.

The secret to all of this of course is gratitude--who is the true visionary. It is through our gratitude that we see possibility. It is through our gratitude that we see the greatness of life and the future, and it is through our gratitude that we give our imaginations permission to dream with greater breadth, depth, and vision.

This year, Thanksgiving falls on a Seven of Hearts day. Together, the 7 of Hearts and the 6 of Clubs birth the King of Clubs--the one who holds the world in his hand and rules through the power of the mental realm--which is our platform of perception. As the Buddha said, we are mind and matter, and they are one, and we must purify the mind.

The Seven of Hearts is the card of spiritual love and unconditional acceptance which comes from the wisdom of forgiveness. The 7 of Hearts is a prophet who wears the cloak of truth, beauty, and compassion.

What a marvelous day to refine our awareness of the power that we have to dream--for ourselves and others; for humanity. For all living beings and creatures. To dream a world of compassion, understanding, integrity, and mastery.

What a powerful day to align with our innermost nature of compassion and understanding to feel the greatness of who we are when we are awake and hear the call of kindness. It's quite amazing really, isn't it?

Solar Eclipse July 21-22, 2009

There is a solar eclipse today and tomorrow. Interestingly, the cards for the days that this event occurs are profoundly spiritual in nature -

Today is a Seven of Clubs day -
The intentional energy of this card influence has to do with the purification of the mind through our choice to be more consciously aware of that which we are mainly unconscious about.

It's a day to rid ourselves of bad mental behaviors, and move our minds into a greater way of thinking that aligns with our highest goals and greatest self-expression.

The day asks that we be introspective -- how interesting that the Sun will be dark - the light will be out - what a perfect time to meditate and reflect. The external light will be removed so that we will turn out attention within to be reflective and more self-aware, which is exactly what the Seven of Clubs holds as an agenda. Doing otherwise today can create anxiety, poor choices, and missed opportunities.

I am not saying that we should all stay in the cave all day, I am suggesting some time spent in solitude, and a day of being more aware.
The Moon, who rules the subconscious, will be shining its gentle light within to light the way.

The co-pilot for the day is the King of Clubs.
His stealth-like presence opens portals to the unlimited realms of the mind; the higher mind.
This is something to take advantage of.

This day leads into tomorrow, as does the eclipse. Tomorrow, the Six of Clubs will rule the day as the messenger. All of this can be as interesting as we choose to make it. Perhaps there is a message for each one of us... just waiting to be heard. It's a good time to be listening.

Many blessings to us all...

Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett

Two legends died today; Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. This is monumental.

When I look at the ruling cards of this day, and how they are positioned in the Grand Life Spread - they form a "triangle of death", and this is a new perspective of this positioning.

Today is June 25, and governed by the 5 of Clubs, which represents change -- inside and out. The 9 of Clubs is riding shotgun with the 5 today as the astrological ruling card, and the 9 of Clubs represents endings. The 5 of Clubs sits atop a triangle of cards which represent sacrifice, death, endings, and change. When I put the 5 of Clubs with the 9 of Clubs to reveal what they create together, they become the Ace of Spades: transformation through death and rebirth- which to me is the biggest indicator. There was a similar scenario on 9/11 when the Ace of Spades and the Jack of Hearts (sacrificial love) were the resulting cards for the day.

Farrah and Michael were both born on "10" days in the cards. She was the 10 of Spades and he was the 10 of Hearts. I do not believe in coincidences. The Spirit Card of the 5 of Clubs is the 5 of Hearts, which symbolizes change in home and relationships, and I've noticed that this card often shows up when people leave their bodies.

Farrah Fawcett was born a 10 of Spades, and this year - age 62 she had the death card (9 of Spades) sitting behind her (moving toward her in that position - pushing her toward its intention). Age 62 is the end of a seven year cycle in the cards, and her departure probably became eminent when she was 61, because the 9 of Spades was ruling that year in her cards. Her planetary ruling card was the 5 of Spades, which was sitting in her 10 of Spades house -- moving her along. The 5 of Spades is also the influence that made her so endearing to so many. How lucky she was to have the love of her life by her side when she departed. Bless you Farrah.

Michael was born the 10 of Hearts, with a 10 of Diamonds planetary card, which is why he was so loved and so popular. The 10 of Diamonds is the blessed card, and the 10 of Hearts represents the embrace of the people. On May 28, Michael went into a new 3 month cycle. When I looked at the cycle before that one, I think that perhaps he's been having some health related challenges for a while. On this day of his death, he had the 9 of Clubs behind him and he was sitting in the 9 of Clubs home, which ties into the 9 of Clubs card influence today. The Nine of Clubs is a card of release -- things do not go as we planned when that card shows up, and it's higher expression is that of being an initiation into the universal mind.

Bless them as they go on their way to the other side. They both have many friends over there, and I'm sure that they were greeted with love.

Shawn Johnson - Born to Win!

Shawn Johnson took home coveted mirror ball trophy on ABC's, Dancing With The Stars last night, winning by less than one percent of the vote. This young lady was born with a winning hand -literally. Born January 19, 1992, she has a Capricorn 8 of Diamonds birthday; born to shine, to be recognized, and to be rightly rewarded.

The nature of this card's influence, drives those born on this birthday to be the best at what they do, and to reign in a highest positions of power of their chosen expression. They are often in the spotlight from early on in life. She shares her birthday with come very bright shinning stars, such as; Dolly Parton, Shelley Fabares, Desi Arnes, Shawn Wayans, Janis Joplin, and Jean Stapleton. Edgar Allan Poe and Robert E. Lee also share this birthday. Many child actors as well, such as Trever O'Brien from the Disney Channel's Motocrossed, and Jodie Sweetin, from Full House.

The 8 of Diamonds birthday blesses people with intelligence, vision, foresight, talent, and an undeniable appeal. It is their destiny to be in the spotlight, and the brighter they shine, the more they want to be recognized - it is simply their nature.

Shawn's planetary ruling card is the 10 of Spades, which represents absolute accomplishment. By nature, she is driven to succeed, and carried by success - her destiny is in the cards, and it is quite wonderful to watch this unfold for her the way it is. I honestly wondered if she would make it - however, her serious intent on succeeding, caused her to listen closely to the judges comments, and implement them. Watching her the last three weeks of the show was pretty amazing. She actually got beyond her age, and turned her sometimes stifling determination into a platform for pure self-expression. Congratulations Shawn.

As for Gilles Marini and Melissa Rycroft, such great dancing - but it just wasn't in the cards.

The Mystic Oracle Radio Show

The Show airs in ten minutes - 7PM EST and 4PM PDT.....
Have a question you'd like me to answer?

Please email it to starofthemagi@earthlink.net
